A video showing two men dressed in traditional Gulf-style robes roaming and bathing at Har Ki Pauri ghat in Haridwar sparked controversy amid calls to restrict non-Hindu access to Ganga ghats during the Kumbh Mela. The men initially identified themselves as Habibullah and Habibi from Dubai but were later found to be local residents making a YouTube video. They apologized for offending religious sentiments and were released after police questioning. The Ganga Sabha and priest community have urged the government to declare these ghats non-Hindu restricted zones, a proposal under consideration.
