A massive fire broke out early on March 5 in a densely packed shanty cluster near Rithala Metro Station in northwest Delhi, destroying over 50 to 100 huts and displacing many migrant families. Firefighters deployed up to 29 fire tenders to control the blaze, which was brought under control by mid-morning. A 17-year-old girl’s charred body was recovered, and a child was injured and hospitalized. The fire’s cause remains under investigation, marking the second major fire in this area within four months.
