New Zealand Introduces Short-Term Graduate Work Visa and Expands Post Study Work Visa Eligibility

New Zealand will introduce a Short-Term Graduate Work Visa from late 2026, granting eligible international graduates up to six months of open work rights to seek employment and potentially transition to employer-sponsored visas. Applicants must have completed full-time study at levels 5 to 7 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework, excluding English language or foundation courses. Additionally, eligibility for the Post Study Work Visa will expand to include graduates with a level 7 Graduate Diploma who also hold a bachelor's degree. These changes aim to support international education and align graduate pathways with workforce needs.
