Bengaluru Identifies Land for Waste Plant, Earns Rs 1.8 Crore from Plastic Credits

Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has identified over 100 acres of land, including sites in Gundalahalli village, Doddaballapur taluk, and Gollahalli, for developing integrated solid waste management parks. Land acquisition will proceed at Rs 1.57 crore per acre after government approval. The city generates around 6,000 tonnes of daily solid waste, with about 520 tonnes of low-value plastic collected for refuse-derived fuel (RDF), which is sent to cement plants for co-processing. Between December and February, BSWML sold 3,600 Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) credits, earning Rs 1.80 crore, supporting sustainable waste management efforts.
