A female Sambar deer in Punjab died from injuries sustained after biting into an improvised explosive device (IED) disguised as food. The device, reportedly laced with jaggery and grains, detonated, causing severe facial trauma. The injured deer was then attacked by dogs before succumbing to its injuries. Wildlife officials have apprehended two suspects for questioning, and an investigation is underway into the poaching methods, which are described as common in the area and often target wild boars and other animals.
