Over 3,500 EWS Applicants Not Admitted to Delhi Schools in 2025-26 Academic Year

Over 3,500 applicants under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category were not admitted to Delhi schools in the 2025-26 academic year, mainly due to parents declining seats over long distances, incomplete documentation, or children already enrolled elsewhere. The Directorate of Education reported 29,706 admissions from 33,212 applications, with a decline in complaints related to EWS admissions attributed to improved processes. NGOs highlight ongoing challenges in private schools, including vacant EWS seats and academic support gaps for admitted students.
