England recorded 41 cases of botulism poisoning this summer. Campaigners are highlighting the dangers of unregulated cosmetic procedures and their potentially lethal consequences. In response, the UK government is implementing stricter rules, including mandatory face-to-face consultations and a planned licensing scheme for cosmetic injectables, due to rising hospital admissions.
