Pro-Inner Line Permit (ILP) supporters in Meghalaya are demanding a national anti-racism law and swift justice after the murder of a 24-year-old MBA student from Tripura, Anjel Chakma, in Dehradun. The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) stated the incident reflects a pattern of racial violence and prejudice against people from the North East in other Indian cities. They urged authorities for a fast-track trial for the apprehended suspects and called for dedicated helplines and police cells in major cities to ensure the safety of North Eastern students and professionals.
