According to the 2025 TomTom Traffic Index, Bengaluru ranks as the second most congested city globally, with motorists averaging 16.6 km/h and losing 168 hours annually in traffic. Pune is fifth worldwide and second in Asia, while six Indian cities feature among Asia's top 10 congested cities. Mumbai and New Delhi show mixed trends, with Mumbai's congestion slightly decreasing and New Delhi's increasing. The index uses anonymized GPS data to benchmark congestion, travel times, and speeds across cities.
