Chennai will soon inaugurate a dedicated public women's cancer screening center in Thousand Lights by February, costing Rs 1.23 crore. The facility will offer free screening for breast, cervical, and ovarian cancers, aiming to improve early detection rates, particularly for economically weaker women. Equipped with mammogram, laboratory, and ultrasound units, it seeks to bridge the gap in accessible advanced cancer diagnostics. The initiative responds to Tamil Nadu's significant cancer burden and aims to enhance survival rates through early diagnosis and data collection for research.
