
In Palghar district, Maharashtra, two minor boys aged 8 and 15 drowned in a water-filled abandoned quarry near the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on February 27. The younger boy's body was recovered the same day by local fire brigade personnel, while the older boy's body was found on March 1 after a search by the National Disaster Response Force. Both victims belonged to families from Madhya Pradesh. Authorities have registered accidental death cases and acknowledged safety concerns over the unfenced quarry.
