Delhi Sees Highest Road Fatalities in 2024 Amid Slight Drop in Accidents and Vehicle Growth

Delhi recorded 1,551 road accident fatalities in 2024, the highest in five years, despite a slight decrease in total accidents to 5,573 from 5,715 in 2023, indicating more severe crashes. Injuries also declined marginally. Meanwhile, registered vehicles in Delhi steadily increased from 127 million in 2021-22 to over 156 million in 2024-25, with two-wheelers comprising the largest share. Public transport usage, including buses and Metro, showed gradual growth and operational changes during this period.
