An exceptionally rare color morph leopard, exhibiting a pale reddish-pink coat resembling sandalwood hues, has been documented for the first time in Karnataka's Vijayanagara district. This unique individual, a female estimated to be six to seven years old, was identified through camera trapping by wildlife scientist Sanjay Gubbi and his team. The unusual coloration is believed to stem from a genetic condition, possibly hypomelanism or erythrism, with only a handful of similar leopards documented globally.
