Residents and Activists Protest Mangrove Cutting for Versova-Dahisar Coastal Road Project

Around 100 residents and environmental activists protested in Kandivali against the proposed Versova-Dahisar Coastal Road project, citing concerns over the destruction of Mumbai's mangroves. The project, estimated to cost over ₹20,000 crore, may cut around 9,000 mangroves and affect over 45,000 more. Protesters questioned the legality of forest clearances and the adequacy of compensatory afforestation plans, while authorities maintain work can proceed with existing approvals.
