
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) intervened to rescue six Indian workers from Odisha held captive and subjected to physical and mental abuse by their employer at a plywood factory in Thailand for about six months. Following a media report and government coordination, four workers were repatriated to India by February 21, with the employer covering travel costs. Efforts continue to repatriate the remaining two workers facing visa issues.
