Two male one-horned rhinoceros calves, Chandra (5) and Kanai (4), rescued as orphans during the 2020 and 2021 floods in Kaziranga National Park, were translocated from the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation to a pre-release enclosure within the park. Following internationally accepted protocols and permissions under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, the rhinos will be habituated to wild conditions before final release. The operation was overseen by forest officials, veterinarians, and conservation experts, reflecting ongoing efforts to rehabilitate flood-distressed wildlife in Assam.
