Enhanced Police Security Measures Implemented Across Tamil Nadu for Pongal Festival

Ahead of the Pongal festival, southern Tamil Nadu districts including Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Kanniyakumari, Chennai, and Tiruchi have intensified security measures. Police deployments range from over 16,000 personnel in Chennai to hundreds in Tiruchi, focusing on crowd management, traffic regulation, and safety at public gatherings, beaches, temples, and rural sports events. Measures include patrolling, vehicle checks, banning sea bathing, and deploying rescue teams to ensure peaceful celebrations and prevent accidents or disturbances.
