The Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) in Ahmedabad successfully performed 500 kidney transplants in 2025, becoming the sole hospital in India to reach this milestone. This figure represents an increase from the 443 transplants conducted in 2024. Of the 500 procedures, 318 were funded by the PMJAY scheme. The recipients included 330 from Gujarat and 170 from other states, with various types of transplants performed, including cadaver, swap, pediatric, and robotic procedures.
