Birders have reported at least two new bird species at Pong Dam Lake in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. The Wildlife Department has begun identifying these species. Conservator Saroj Bhai Patel noted that migratory birds, including bar-headed geese from Siberia, arrive annually during winter. The department plans a census by month-end to record the total migratory bird population at the lake this year.
