
Deepak, a 25-year-old from Haryana, returned home after over three months in a Russian immigration jail, describing harsh conditions including hunger, electric shocks when requesting toilet breaks, and forced consumption of beef. He was detained after his landlord confiscated his passport due to unpaid rent, following unpaid wages from jobs arranged by a travel agent. His release was secured with help from Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, who warned against fraudulent agents exploiting youths seeking work abroad.
