Chandigarh has achieved the status of a fully literate Union Territory under the ULLAS initiative, a centrally sponsored program focused on lifelong learning for adults aged 15 and above. This milestone was reached after approximately 15,000 adult learners passed the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test. The initiative involved door-to-door surveys to identify learners, followed by special classes conducted in various community spaces. The achievement is attributed to collective effort and community participation, aiming to build an empowered society and contribute to a 'Shikshit Bharat'.
