
A man named Subodh Khalkho was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chitrakota village near Ranchi, Jharkhand, on March 2. Another person was injured and hospitalized. The forest department provided immediate relief to the victims' families and plans to drive the elephant back to the forest. The Jharkhand government offers Rs 4 lakh compensation for elephant-related deaths. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed concern over rising man-elephant conflicts, with 27 deaths reported recently across several districts.
