Tunmay Shukla to Continue Family's 185-Year Indian Army Legacy as Fifth-Generation Officer

Tunmay Shukla will be commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army on March 7, continuing his family's 185-year military legacy into its fifth generation. The tradition began in 1841 with Havildar Karta Ram Shukla and includes notable service in major conflicts such as the Second Anglo-Burmese War, World War I, the Sino-India War, and Indo-Pak wars. The third generation, Lieutenant Colonel Sri Niwas Shukla, served until 1990 and later founded a rural medical trust before his death in 2021.
