
Delhi recorded 9,211 deaths due to respiratory diseases in 2024, up from 8,801 in 2023, reflecting a continuing rise linked to conditions like asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, and tuberculosis. Circulatory diseases caused the highest fatalities at 21,262, increasing sharply from 15,714 the previous year. Infectious and parasitic disease deaths declined to 16,060. Overall mortality rose to 139,480, while live births decreased to 306,459. The Infant Mortality Rate slightly improved to 22.4 per 1,000 live births, according to official Delhi government data.
