Tamil Nadu is nearing malaria eradication, with 33 out of 38 districts reporting no indigenous cases for three years. Chennai and four other districts still record cases, accounting for a significant portion of the state's total, which has fallen from 5,587 in 2015 to 321 in 2025. The state is implementing surveillance and preventive measures to meet India's 2030 malaria elimination target.
