Odisha's Hirakud wildlife division has established its first all-woman protection squad for the Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary. The five-member squad, including four tribal women, will support existing personnel in patrolling and safeguarding the sanctuary. Trained in various surveillance techniques and equipped with modern technology, these women aim to enhance wildlife protection efforts, combat threats like electrocution and illegal trade, and promote community conservation. This initiative is highlighted as a significant step for women's empowerment and community engagement in conservation.
