Vision loss due to diabetes is increasingly affecting younger adults in India, posing a growing public health concern. With over 101 million adults diabetic and 136 million prediabetic, complications like diabetic retinopathy—damage to retinal blood vessels caused by high blood sugar—often develop silently without early symptoms. Experts highlight that nearly 85% of diabetic individuals are unaware of these risks, leading to late diagnoses and worsening eye health. The number of affected individuals is projected to rise significantly by 2045.
