Mizoram Conducts Statewide Earthquake Mock Drill to Test Emergency Preparedness

Mizoram conducted a statewide earthquake mock drill on January 15 to evaluate emergency response and preparedness across all districts. Organized by the National Disaster Management Authority and the state Disaster Management and Rehabilitation department, the exercise included simulated scenarios like building collapses and fires at 36 locations. Security forces, medical teams, NGOs, and disaster response units from Mizoram and neighboring states participated. The drill was monitored via video conferencing from emergency operation centres, with officials urging the public not to panic as it was a planned exercise.
