Mumbai Launches Pilot Project to Digitally Map and Assess Tree Health in Two Wards

Mumbai's Information Technology and Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar announced a pilot project to digitally map and assess the health of trees in the R-Central ward of Borivali and H-West ward covering Bandra, Khar, and Santacruz West. The initiative will use LiDAR technology for 3D imaging and resistographs to detect internal decay without harming trees. Each tree will receive a unique digital code detailing its species, age, health, growth, and environmental benefits, aiming to improve preservation and management in suburban Mumbai.
