Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a nearly blind refugee from Myanmar, was found dead in Buffalo after being released from county jail and dropped off by U.S. Border Patrol at a coffee shop miles from his home. Authorities are investigating his death. Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan criticized federal immigration officials for leaving Shah Alam alone on a cold night without ensuring a safe location. Border Patrol stated Shah Alam showed no distress and accepted a ride to a warm place near his last known address.
