The annual Magh Mela in Prayagraj, a month-long religious congregation at the Sangam, began on January 3 with the Paush Purnima bathing festival and will conclude on February 15. This event marks the start of Kalpvas, a period of spiritual practice observed by participants residing in temporary camps on the riverbanks. This year, the administration anticipates over 4 lakh participants, necessitating the creation of a new settlement area, Prayagwal Nagar, for improved accommodation and crowd management. The mela features various religious orders, spiritual activities, and prioritizes sanitation.
