Kuki Woman Dies After Gang Rape During 2023 Manipur Ethnic Violence; Investigation Stalls

A 20-year-old Kuki woman abducted and gang-raped during the 2023 ethnic violence in Manipur died in January 2026 after nearly three years of physical and psychological trauma. She was taken from an ATM in Imphal, assaulted by alleged members of radical groups, and later escaped. Despite filing a zero FIR and the case being transferred to the CBI, no arrests have been made. Her family and Kuki organizations have called for justice and highlighted ongoing ethnic tensions in the region.
