Mahapanchayat Scheduled in Ghaziabad Village Over Dumping Ground Dispute

A mahapanchayat is scheduled in Meerpur Hindu village, Ghaziabad, to protest a local dumping ground that residents say has worsened living conditions due to foul odors. The village, adopted for development by former MP Gen (Retd) V K Singh, has seen farmers staging a 13-day sit-in demanding the site's removal. A February 15 protest turned violent with stone-pelting and police lathi charge, resulting in injuries and a police case against villagers and others for forcibly entering the waste facility.
