Over 3,500 applicants from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category were not admitted to Delhi schools in the 2025-26 academic year, according to Directorate of Education data. Out of 33,212 applications, 29,706 admissions were granted. Non-admissions were mainly due to parents declining seats over distance, incomplete documentation, or absence during verification. Complaints related to EWS admissions decreased from 553 in 2024-25 to 331 in 2025-26, with most resolved. Additionally, 37 EWS students were transferred from private to government schools after failing exams in the past two years.
