The Tamil Nadu Forest Department is enhancing coastal patrolling with the Marine Elite Force to protect Olive Ridley turtles during their nesting season. This initiative follows an increase in turtle deaths last season, attributed to entanglement in fishing nets. Over 50 carcasses have already been reported this December. The department aims to prevent further fatalities by intercepting trawlers and safeguarding endangered marine species, with measures being implemented earlier than in previous years.
