
Punjab Social Security Minister Baljit Kaur announced the recovery of Rs 170 crore previously credited to accounts of deceased beneficiaries under the old age pension scheme. The department has deleted these accounts and continues regular monitoring. Over Rs 3,806 crore was disbursed under the scheme in 2025-26, benefiting more than 23 lakh elderly. The government has also established old age homes, funded social organizations, provided free bus services for women, and is setting up hostels with creche facilities. Recruitment and renovation of anganwadi centers are ongoing to support child welfare.
