In Chhattisgarh's Korea district, the 'Aawa Paani Jhoki' movement encouraged over 1,260 farmers to dedicate 5% of their land to water conservation by constructing recharge ponds and soak pits. This community-driven initiative, supported by local administration and the Centre's Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari campaign, has revived more than 440 ponds, raised groundwater levels by 3-4 metres, restored springs in tribal hamlets, reduced soil erosion, improved crop moisture, and decreased seasonal migration by about 25%. Women volunteers and local groups played key roles in awareness and implementation.
