
In Dimapur, Nagaland, short circuits were the primary cause of fires in 2025, leading to an estimated Rs 6.88 crore in property damage and affecting over 500 families. Electrical faults accounted for more than half of the incidents. While no fatalities were reported, non-Naga residents and those in kaccha houses experienced the most damage. Other causes included open flames, waste burning, and gas leaks, with a significant number of cases of unknown origin.
