Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) has facilitated over 18,000 high-end medical procedures, including organ transplants and cochlear implants, since 2012. The state has spent more than ₹1,500 crore on these treatments, with renal transplants being the most common and liver transplants incurring the highest expenditure. The scheme covers costs exceeding the ₹5 lakh insurance limit through a dedicated Corpus Fund, making advanced medical care accessible.
