Fire at Odisha's SCB Medical College ICU Kills 10 Patients, Injures Staff

A fire broke out early Monday in the trauma care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, reportedly caused by a short circuit. At least 10 patients, many on ventilator support, died due to the blaze and suffocation during evacuation. Eleven hospital staff were injured while rescuing patients. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the hospital, announced Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia for victims' families, and ordered a judicial probe. Rescue efforts involved fire brigades and hospital personnel shifting patients to safer wards.
