Fire at Odisha's SCB Medical College ICU Kills 10 Patients, Injures Staff

A fire broke out early Monday in the trauma care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, killing at least 10 patients, most of whom were on ventilator support. Eleven hospital staff were injured during rescue efforts. The blaze, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, occurred between 2:30 and 3 am. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the hospital, announced Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia for victims' families, and ordered a judicial probe into the incident.
