Fire at Odisha's SCB Medical College ICU Causes 10 Patient Deaths, Probe Ordered

A fire broke out early Monday in the trauma care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, resulting in at least 10 patient deaths. Seven died inside the ICU, and three others during rescue transfers. Around 23 hospital staff involved in evacuation suffered injuries. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the hospital, announced Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia for victims' families, and ordered a judicial probe. The fire, suspected to be caused by a short circuit, led to evacuation of patients to safer wards, with several in critical condition.
