A young male leopard, estimated to be 12 to 14 months old, was rescued from a tree in Bitania village, Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, after being trapped in a net following a three-hour effort. The animal drank water but showed breathlessness and died en route to the range office. Officials suspect dehydration as a possible cause, with a post-mortem by a veterinary panel underway. The area hosts around 20 leopards, and the animal had climbed the same tree multiple times previously.
