An 18-year-old student from Uttar Pradesh died at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital due to neurocysticercosis, a brain infection caused by tapeworm larvae. Doctors identified 20-25 cysts in her brain, believed to have originated from consuming contaminated cabbage, possibly from street food. The infection occurs when tapeworm eggs are ingested through contaminated food or water, with larvae migrating to the brain. Experts note that leafy vegetables can trap eggs if not properly washed or cooked. The hospital stated that further details require family permission due to the case not being medico-legal.
