Maharashtra's State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) has issued strict guidelines to blood centers, warning against excessive blood collection and profiteering. Following complaints of bulk-transferring surplus blood components, the SBTC mandates that collection must align with actual medical needs, especially during upcoming festive season camps. Centers exceeding requirements for commercial gain risk license cancellation, with targets to be based on past distribution data. Unauthorized transfers and plasma supply are also under scrutiny.
