India Observes NDRF Raising Day Honoring Disaster Response Efforts

On January 19, India observed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Raising Day, marking the force's establishment in 2006 under the Disaster Management Act. Leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu praised the NDRF for its professionalism, dedication, and critical role in disaster response. The force, comprising 16 battalions across 68 locations, is recognized for swift rescue, relief, and evacuation operations during natural and man-made disasters nationwide.
