A delegation from the Jorhat district Congress and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) met with environmentalist Jadav Payeng following a fire at Molai forest 2.0. The fire, believed to be deliberately set, destroyed approximately 5,000 saplings across five bighas and harmed wildlife. Payeng's daughter, Munmuni, and villagers quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing further damage to a plantation where nearly 10 lakh trees have been planted since 2022.
