Bengaluru police conducted a drug screening drive under the 'Sanmitra' initiative across six educational institutions and two hostels in the Vijayanagar sub-division, collecting urine samples from over 1,200 students. Of 585 randomly tested samples, 31 tested positive for drug use. The drive, supported by medical staff and conducted with institutional consent, focuses on counselling and rehabilitation rather than punishment, with confidentiality assured. Authorities plan to continue the programme and involve parents in future counselling sessions.
