
Ahead of Holi 2026, food safety authorities across multiple Indian cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Barabanki, Kanpur, and Pune, have intensified inspections and raids targeting adulterated and expired festive food items such as paneer, khoya, spices, and sweets. Authorities seized and destroyed over two tonnes of unsafe products, collected numerous samples for laboratory testing, and emphasized zero tolerance for food adulteration to protect public health during the festival. Public awareness campaigns and border checks have also been implemented to prevent adulterated goods from reaching consumers.
