A botanical study of Coimbatore's Singanallur tank recorded 574 plant species, adding 121 new species to the previously documented 453. Conducted between January 2023 and December 2024, the research identified three threatened species per IUCN and three endemic plants, including Dicliptera cuneata and Viscum subracemosum. Despite urban pollution, the tank remains a significant urban biodiversity hotspot, designated as an Urban Biodiversity Conservation Zone since 2017.
